Keep a journal and pen next to your bed so you can write down your dreams as soon as you wake up.

Grab some shades, a floppy hat, and your favorite book. Go to your local ice cream parlor, buy the biggest cone you can, and sit outdoors, eating and reading to your heart’s content.

Rent Harvey.

Write your best friend a letter telling them how happy and lucky you are to have them as a friend.

Buy some picture frames from the thrift store. Spruce them up with some paint, glitter, and whatever else suits your fancy. Fill with pictures of your pet.

the darjeeling limited

Take a photo every day. Even if all you have is a camera phone or a disposable. You will not only have wonderful memories of your life, but will also improve your photography skills.

Start a tumblr page for inspiring photos, art, music, quotes, and anything else you find online.  Once you start your page, be sure to add me and share with everyone else your page!

Rent (or buy) the Darjeeling Limited and watch it over and over and over.

Buy some fun or funky patterned linens from the thrift store.  Use the fabric to make fabulous summer tote bags.

Write a short but sweet quote or love note on some paper bills before going shopping.

Spend some time in the library. Spend a day in the library reading the novel version of your favorite Disney film.

Look for vintage aprons in the thrift store. Dinner is so much more fun to cook when you can get dressed up for the occasion!

Take yourself on a date. Go to the museum, see a movie, or go get lunch. Enjoy what a wonderful person you are!

Buy some rose water or orange blossom water to spruce up desserts, drinks, or anything else you think may need a floral touch. Rose scented bath anyone?

Find an older part of town, put on some vintage clothes, roll your hair, and grab a friend to go do a photoshoot around town with.

Splurge on art supplies and spend a day in the backyard painting and sipping lemonade. Who cares if you are not an accomplished painter, every one of us is an artist!

Start reading more. Aim for one book a month if you can. Reading a chapter or two a day is easy!

Make indoor s’mores.   All you really need is your stove, some chocolate, graham crackers, and of course…marshmallows!

Start an inspiration journal. Buy a blank notebook or journal and paste pictures of inspiring images, clothing, quotes, and whatnot throughout the pages.

Buy no bake cheesecake mix. Leave in your fridge for emergencies. It is perfect for late nights when you can’t sleep and need Dorothy, Rose, Blanch or Sofia to comfort you.

Plan a Halloween party in May. Invite your friends over, insist they dress up, rent horror flicks, and pig out on bite sized Milky Ways.

Download an Abba song for your ringtone.

Throw a tea party. Invite your girlfriends, wear pretty floral dresses, and take lots and lots of photos.

With a permanent marker draw a smiley face on all your eggs or citrus fruit. I love seeing someones expression when they reach for food that is smiling up at them.

Check for beauty colleges in your area. I wouldn’t recommend getting a haircut or color there, but it sure is nice to have someone else wash your hair. Also, the one near me only charges $5 for a finger wave!

Write your significant other a love letter and drop it in the mail box, even if you live together.

Make up a jar of cinnamon sugar so you can make up cinnamon toast whenever the craving strikes! You could also sprinkle it on your fruit and yogurt in the morning. Yum!

amelie

Watch Amelie…enough said huh?

Have one extra glass of wine tonight. Turn up the tunes, kick off your shoes, and dance until you fall over!

Add a teaspoon of cocoa powder to your coffee on mornings when you need a bit of a change.

Go underwear shopping! Buy the prettiest, ruffliest, laciest underthings you can find!

Take your best friend on a play date to the petting zoo. Spend the entire day taking silly pictures together.

Find a shop or cafe where they sell fresh tea leaves. Splurge on a delicious fruit tea, and make a huge pitcher of iced tea.

Next time you are on a toll road, pay for the person behind you as well as yourself.

Go to the drug store and buy a (cheap) shade of eye shadow you don’t think would ever work on you. Spend a few hours experimenting, and make it work! Try blending it with more neutral colors if you think it is a bit too over the top.

Sign up for the Indulgences weekly newsletter. It comes out every Tuesday, and is an extra dose of fun!

Start taking daily outfit photos. Really, nothing has helped me learn more about my own style than looking at daily outfit photos. It makes it much easier to pinpoint what you do and don’t like about your wardrobe.

Look for an international market in your town. Go with a few extra dollars and buy something totally unfamiliar to you. If you are unsure go with something sweet, desserts are much harder to go wrong with than savory foods.

Organize a clothing swap with some friends. Go through your closet and drawers and pull out everything that doesn’t get use. Make a few cocktails, turn on some music, and get to trading!

Go to the fabric store and buy the cutest buttons you can find. Buy an ordinary cardigan from the thrift store and spruce it up by replacing all the buttons.

the apartment

Paint your toe nails two different colors, alternating each toe with a contrasting shade.

Set up a secret date for you and your friend, or you and your sweetie to meet in a secret location, and pretend like you are meeting for the first time….for as long as you can!

Buy a bag of rhinestones from the craft store. Go crazy decorating anything that needs a bit more sparkle.

Go rent The Apartment with Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine.  Swoon over the nice guy in this film, Jack Lemmon.

Bake a huge batch of chocolate chip cookies for an unsuspecting friend or family member.  Attach a note that tells them how much you appreciate them, and deliver when they aren’t around.
