Etsy Find: My New Kitchen Clock

March 5, 2008

new bamboo clock

I have been in the market for a new clock for quite some time. I have been casually browsing eBay, looking over the lovely vintage star burst clocks, and some gorgeous vintage bamboo clocks. Then the other day it occurred to me, why have I not looked for clocks on etsy before?! Silly me, always turning to eBay first thing, only to be disappointed at the 13 bids, and highly overpriced items.

Well anyway, point of the story, I went on over to etsy, typed in “bamboo clock” and this gorgeous piece of art popped up. It was far better looking than any of the bamboo clocks I had bookmarked on eBay, and I didn’t have to worry about the price changing, or someone outbidding me. The clock is by Interstate 80, and is absolutely perfect for the tropical, island, tiki, mai tai theme I am going for in my kitchen/life.

The price was way better than any of the clocks I had looked at on eBay, and the shipping was incredibly quick. Now I just need to buy another banana tree for my kitchen!

Talk to your Valentine in Style

February 6, 2008

lips phone from urban outfitters

I’m not sure if it is because it reminds me of Rocky Horror, or if it is my odd obsession with household items shaped like body parts, but this phone from Urban Outfitters seriously makes incredibly happy, and wish that we used our land line enough for me to buy this! What a great way to talk to your Valentine this February 14th!

Plants on the Brain

January 10, 2008

plants on the brain
I got the most wonderful new goody in the mail yesterday!

I found Plants on the Brain about a month or so ago through a link on another blog. I checked out the link, and fell in love with all the precious little pots. Each pot is molded from antique dolls from all over the world. They are all painted, and have drain holes in the neck, perfect for small plants!
There were a few that I had my eye on, but I especially loved the Gerber Baby Pot. Sadly it had sold out by the time I checked back in the store. I sent quick email, and within a few days there was another Gerber Baby on reserve for me.I can’t tell you how happy I am with this purchase, she just lights up the room.

A Lovely Bird Cage

January 2, 2008

This morning I found possibly one of the best non clothing items I have ever found in a thrift store! I am so thrilled to add these little birds to my collection of hanging birds. I have envisioned for years one day having a wet bar in my home decked out like the Tiki Room at Disneyland, with bamboo, tikis, banana trees, and of course hanging birds!

Until then I will have to find somewhere in my cottage to hang them!
