Indulgences Weekly Challenge week 2 Results

June 9, 2008

Well, what do you know, our second weekly challenge has come to an end. I decided to keep the new challenge, and the challenge results separated each Monday, so we can use this area to talk about our results!

I had the most incredible picnic. I had originally planned on doing it Saturday afternoon, but at the last minute rescheduled for Sunday so that two of my friends could come enjoy the park with Russ and I.

We had the most amazing feast of Indian food. I made potato kurma, spinach dal, onion chutney, and rice pudding. My two friends brought some flat bread, rice, a cucumber salad, and an Indian roasted cauliflower. It was incredible–and the sort of event where you sit around an eat until you are sick because everything tastes so good.

We lounged around for a few hours, listening to music from the lap top, eating of course, and enjoying the nice warm weather. I am already looking forward to the next picnic!

Now tell us all about your picnic, what you ate, who you invited, where you went–everything! If you have photos share those as well! I hope everyone had a wonderful picnic!

I didn’t think I’d be participating in a picnic, because the weather is AWFUL in Western Washington right now, and because I didn’t want to plan aaaaaaaanything this weekend ;) On Saturday, my boyfriend & I finally got out of bed at 6 PM (!!!) and made our way to Meconi’s Subs. They were closing at 7 and the employees looked pretty darn anxious to get out of there, so we gave ‘em a break and took our sandwiches over to the Capitol Campus. We sat on a bench by a fountain that is a replica of a Danish Fountain (weird!) and enjoyed our chicken-breast deli-meat sandwiches. The fresh-baked white bread was soft, the mayo & provolone cheese were rich, the lettuce was crunchy and the pickles & pepperocini were zesty! Can’t beat it! It was cool & cloudy but not raining, so we had a very nice time. I didn’t take pictures because I wasn’t expecting a picnic at all!

Wow that plate looks heavenly! Alas my camera has gone to Taiwan w/ my hubby but I had a picnic of cheese pizzas and PBRs with 2 girlfriends. We sat, chatted and laughed and enjoyed a very casual picnic!

I had a HUGE picnic in Quincy, IL! I didn’t get too many photos, but I’ll share a few of my favorites. Fingers crossed that html works in here…

Some geese out by the house

MyGodfather (front) showed us his AMAZING train room! He painted all of those walls (he even went to Montana to take reference photos!) and there’s more than you can see– it wraps around into ANOTHER room! Amazing stuff. A few of the trains run already!

    Part of the beautiful yard!

There’s nothing out there, but Quincy is beautiful!

My family at breakfast at the hotel the next morning, so there’s some of the Guests for you! My aunt and uncle are on the left, and my Grandparents (up from Florida) on the center/right.

I was best-dressed. Okay so you can’t see much here, but I’m in love with my hat. (I had the hat, a black and white ruffly tank, voluminous white skirt, and black wedge sandals that tie around my ankles.)

My brother was the most Seasonal though :P (Pardon the ugly colors, it was dusk.)
