What I’m Wishing

April 30, 2008

Have you been thinking about your wish for the week? Last week’s were so much fun to read, you are all getting so creative with them–each little daydream is like reading the back of a really fantastic novel!

what i’m wishing
 Outfit Info

My wish this week is a bit more attainable, unlike jumping in my time machine and heading to another decade! I wanted this week’s wish to be one that could actually come true, so that I have something to look forward to.

I wish that the sun was shining bright, and I had a box full of cupcakes baked. I would call up a friend, and we would head down to the museums in Balboa Park together. Since Tuesdays are free at the museums, we would see which one we could get into, then spend an hour looking at whatever the new exhibit was. After casually looking we would return to the car and get our thigns. We would spread out a picnic blanket, and get comfortable. We would eat cupcakes and paint all day until the sun went down.

Your turn! What are you wishing this week?? Is it something attainable, or totally unrealistic?

What I’m wishing for is sleep. Ahh sleep, how I miss thee so. In fact, as soon as I’m done writing this, and I renew my library books online, I will be going to bed. And so, my wish will have come true!

I wish for graduation day and the start of summer to come soon. I want to do all the fun things I’ve been planning for such a long time: auditioning for a musical (I’m wishing I’ll get cast!), visiting my sister in New York, staying with friends I haven’t seen in a year in Florida, and just relaxing before the stress of college begins!

Oh, we were just talking about this, this morning…

My two DDs (teen and preteen) and I were wishing they could stay home from school, and we would proceed to go shopping for loads of vintage clothes, buy a lot of candy that magically had no calories, maybe go to a fabulous movie, and then come home and take naps.

That would have been great. P.S. We didn’t do it!

I think mine’s a combination of unrealistic and feasible.

I wish I were preparing for my first public reading (my editor promised me a packed house) for my fiction novel which has received rave reviews and is charting the top ten list of the New York Times booklist for the third week in a row. I’m a little nervous but one of the readers comes up to me and tells me how much one of the characters means to her and suddenly I’m full of confidence.

Oh, that’s my cue - I’m starting with chapter 4. And it looks like my editor is right. My favorite local bookstore is packed :)

I made a birthday wish recently on my blog to pick out fancy dresses for all my best girlfriends and go out on the town.

Choosing all the dresses was the fun part of the dream - see them here:

What a pretty collage of wishes! I am watching Marie Antoinette right as I right this! And these images are perfectly elegant! Just like the movie!

I want to wear this to go do laundry at a laundromat & go stationery shopping during the day. Then I would eat burritos and shop at Amoeba Records on a warm San Franciscan Night!

(I used this polyvore set in a contest on http://www.galadarling.com, but I’m totally obsessed with looking at it and would have created it with or without the contest!!)

I wish this was attainable! A nice day all alone with sun, sunscreen (I am too pale for words), a nice cold drink and a big ol’ stack of books all to myself for the day. Its been so nice here that I’ve really wanted to try and sit out in the sun for a while, but my backyard has no privacy; we’re right up against a golf course and every time I try to do a little sun bathing I’ve got creepy golfers spying over the fence at me! EEP!

Plus I have a ton of books I want to catch up on. Hurry up and be summer already!

I wish I were in a small isolated adobe home in the desert, standing in front of the huge front window, watching a powerful rainstorm pound the dirt. Cat Power’s The Greatest plays over and over as I observe the dark sky pulsing above. I am sorry for your sister’s loss Cedar, hope she gets thru OK.

I’m a little late, but my wish is to be walking the red carpet for the Oscars. I would have been a random find for some up and coming producer. He put me up against another young actor, and we made a movie that did fairly well with critics, and extremely wonderfully at the box office.

I’m not nominated for an Academy Award, but my film is up for Best Director, Best Original Score, Best Costume Design, and my coactor is up for Best Actor in a Leading Role.

My husband accompanies me, and we take an old Rolls Royce to the Kodak Theatre in LA. Several reporters ask about my gown and interview me about the success of the film. I’m in such a great mood that my laughter and happiness leave Ryan Seacrest at the E! stand with tears from laughing.

Our film wins Best Costume, and though we didn’t win the other awards, we’re in a great mood.

That evening we go to the Vanity Fair Oscars party for about 30 minutes, then call up our good friends, and head out to a restaurant to enjoy the evening with our group.

    It’s a wonderful evening.

I’d like to be wearing a bright yellow dress, barefoot, and falling asleep in a huge field of multicolored tulips on a warm sunny day.

I actually just thought of another one.

I’d be swimming, in a calm sea, seeing cute and colorful fish, and I’d find a small island, and sit and sunbathe on it. My own private little place.

    May 8th, 2008 at 6:54 pm

  18. MissCedar says:

Natalie- Both of those sound absolutely divine. I am a firm believer that everyone needs there own private tropical island to escape to.
