Indiana Jones Outfit

April 21, 2008

I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am about the new Indiana Jones movie that is coming out next month. I just had to create an outfit to celebrate! I actually took inspiration from my Halloween costume from a few years back, when I dressed as Indiana Jones.

I LOVE this….and I have similar elements already. I know my husband is going to groan, but I’m dressing up as Femme Indie when I go see the movie!

My husband met Harrison Ford a couple months ago, so he’s super excited to see the movie because of that.

My whole family are Indiana Jones freaks, though.

Morgan- Your husband met Harrison Ford?! How did that happen? That is so awesome!

Backstory: We moved to the LA area last September. I got a temp to hire job right away, which led to the permanent job I have now. Caleb got a temp job that looked like it was going to turn into a full time, but fell through in Jan, with 2 day notice. To get himself through while looking for a long term job, he took a few short temp jobs.

One was for a company based out of the hangars at Santa Monica Airport. Caleb was the receptionist’s assistant for 3 days. Apparently Harrison Ford’s private jet, publicist and manager are all located in that hangar.

Harrison came in two days in a row. Caleb didn’t spend any time with him, but I think Caleb spoke with him at least once. Obviously not as cool as it probably sounded, but Caleb was jazzed (I would be too!).

All in all, we’ve had 6 celebrity sightings since September, but that was the best one. :)

Morgan- That is so completely awesome. Who are the other 5 celebrity encounters? I have had a few of my own, but no one like Harrison Ford!

I went to the beach at Santa Monica one Wednesday before I had a job, and ended up being about 10 feet from Marcia Cross (of Desperate Housewife fame), her twin 1 1/2 yr olds, and 2 nannies, for over an hour.

Saw Janet Jackson at a premiere in Hollywood, when I was taking a “short cut” home one day.

One of the days Caleb was at that hangar, Greg Grunberg (the cop from Heroes) came in to film his new movie next door.

This past Sunday Caleb was dropping me off for work at my second job in Santa Monica, and we saw Kate Beckinsale and her husband walking and shopping.

I guess it was only 5… except Caleb met one of the girls from Cloverfield, but we don’t count that as a celebrity sighting, as she’s not really a celebrity yet. Maybe one day. :)

    What about yours?

Morgan- Wow! That is quite a list!

A few years back when I was working at an Indian restaurant in downtown San Diego Sean Astin (Sam from Lord of the Rings) came ordered some food from me over the phone. Of course I didn’t know it was him until he came in and picked it up. He asked if my name was Denise, and was super friendly and nice.
Husband and I saw Matt Stone (Southpark) at the LAX airport about three years ago. On that same day we saw someone from the movie Ghost, but I couldn’t tell you who, Russ recognized him…
I saw Elijah Wood at Mardi Gras in New Orleans about four (or five?) years ago…which is really funny, because two of my cousins have met him on entirely separate occasions…

You’ve got a thing for meeting LOTR people! :)

Is your husband’s name Russ? How long have y’all been together/and/or/married?

  13. MissCedar says:

Morgan- Yeah it sure seems that way…2 out 4 hobbits isn’t bad!!

Yeah, Russ is my husband…we will have been together for four years this May, and in July we will have our 2 year wedding anniversary!

ps. Have you heard of Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Adaptation? A group of kids in the 80s, over the course of several years, did a shot-by-shot adaptation of “Raiders of the Lost Ark.” I saw it at a film fest last fall, it is UNBELIEVABLE (& right on). You should definitely try to see it if you can!!
