Friday Favorites

April 4, 2008

A few of you took notice when I quit doing my Friday Favorites two weeks ago. I had a few reasons behind that decision, one being that I wasn’t really sure what direction I wanted to take that part of Indulgences. After two weeks of thinking, I feel I am ready to emerge with a much more improved Friday Favorites. This time around it is all inclusive, videos, music, photos, links, and whatever else I see online that I think you would all enjoy and benefit from as well. So, I hope you enjoy these links, and if you have any other ideas of things to include in Friday Favorites, I would love to hear them!

Read the great post about making your own terrariums on Modish. They are like a little tiny jungle in a beautiful glass jar. I really want to make one now!!

Last night I went with some friends to see the most incredible local band. They are called Mad Juana, and they are a fabulous eclectic bunch. If you like Gogol Bordello, then this right up your alley. Go check out their MySpace page to listen to some of their music.

Thanks to Design Sponge for posting these incredible octopus chandeliers by Adam Wallacavage. It is all such incredibly eye candy, and now I know I NEED an octopus hanging from my ceiling.

I have had so many recipes fall into my hands that I start making, and then half way through the procedure I realize I should have begun doing another step, or I needed to have the celery already chopped. I know a lot of them can be pretty hard to decipher, but thanks to Apartment Therapy, we can get through the jumble of ingredients and directions a bit easier.

Ever since Absinthe became legal here in the US, I have been seeing Absinthe cupcakes on just about every food blog I read. Here is some great summarized info on it from Cupcake Project. Personally, I can’t wait to try the stuff, and am extremely excited by the idea of baking with it. Have any of you tried the stuff?

I wish tooth commercials were still this pleasant. I hate seeing close ups of bacteria or plaque between teeth!

Stef- Your welcome! I just love old commercials. Watching them though makes it hard to sit through our commercials today though…

Anna- Thank you for the sweet comment! I am glad FF are back as well! I am curious about the cupcakes as well, they probably don’t use much absinthe in them…if I ever make them I will definitely get a post up about it!

I tried absinthe before. It made me have to poop. :X It was strong but had a sweet after-taste. But for a shots sake, it wasnt half bad. The emergency pooping part was the hard thing to swallow.

I wish I was kidding…but Im not. lol.

I tried absinthe when I was in Spain a couple of summers ago. I didn’t really like the taste on its own, but it was pretty good when mixed with Squirt. I love cupcakes, so trying something new would be great!

Jenn- The absinthe and squirt sounds like it would be pretty good. I’ll have to remember that!
