How To Be Comfortable AND Fashionable [Part 2]

March 2, 2008

A while ago one of my lovely readers made a request another post like my first, ‘How to Be Comfortable AND Fashionable‘. I just love doing posts like this, partly because they are so useful, and partly because I continue to find new things or come up with ideas, that hadn’t even occurred to me while dressing myself!

Long and flowing hippie skirts are quite possibly the most comfortable thing around. Paired with a dainty camisole they look sleek and sexy. Avoid wearing gladiator style sandals, and instead go for some simple flats.

Wrap around dresses or tops are amazing for ‘fat days’.

One easy way to look polished with minimal effort, is the old ‘match your bag to your shoes’ trick.

Look for comfortable dresses with a lot of character. Dresses are so easy to throw on, and you hardly need to accessorize with the better ones. If you have a closet packed full of easy to wear dresses, getting dressed will be a breeze.

Look for dresses with elastic waist bands. They are comfortable, and usually very lightweight. If you don’t like the look of an elastic waist, throw a skinny belt over it.

Just because a shoe is flat doesn’t mean it is comfortable. On the same note, just because a shoe has a heel doesn’t mean it is uncomfortable. That being said, I highly recommend you shop in person for shoes rather than online.

I agree about not ordering shoes online. There are so many variables involved, from quality to fit, that it isn’t worth the hassle.

However, if I saw a pair of decently priced vintage shoes I liked online, I might buy them.

My personal favorite pair of shoes are a pair of small men’s oxfords, in brown crocodile. They go with everything I own and can be dressed up or down to suit.

They look a lot like this:

But mine? They were $7 in a thrift store! I love it!

Nancy- I agree, if there were some killer shoes, that I know I wouldn’t be able to find anywhere else, I would definitely by them online. Unfortunately the link said the shoes weren’t available, so I couldn’t see what the looked like! :(
