Plants. I am having a serious plant fetish. Ever since I got my banana tree back in October (?) I have been obsessed with indoor plants. I want to have tons, and tons. I want my house to look like a jungle. I am working up to that though, buying one at a time because I used to be terrible at keeping plants. Soon though my house will look like a little jungle retreat.

Sharise. My darling friend. She lives in San Francisco, and this morning I went and picked her up from the airport. She brought me the most incredible gift! A little before Christmas Anthony Bourdain did a book signing up at a book store in San Francisco, and she bought me a book called ‘My Last Supper’ for which he did the Introduction. Well of course look which picture she had him sign for me….Anthony Bourdain….(PS, probably not work safe!). I love you Sharise!

April 9. Yesterday Russ and I decided that we need to create our own holiday that seems worth celebrating. Neither he, nor I care much for Valentines Day in the traditional sense, so our holiday is different. It is going to be more of a ‘celebrate life and those around you’ rather than a ‘be romantic and buy roses’ type holiday. Anyone can celebrate it, anyway they please, and all that is necessary is that you go a step further to make yourself and those around your feel important, and loved. April 9 is the day, but we don’t have a name for it yet….any ideas?

If you really love plants as much as you say, you’d get along great with my my mom. Our house is pretty much a rain forest of tropical plants. Having them around all the time, and constantly hearing about them in the summer when they’re all blooming and what not, has made me loathe pretty much every plant except bamboo! (They don’t make flowers. Or at least, not the kind we have.)

HOLY MOLY, that pic of Anthony Bourdain made me laugh so hard!!!

I know it’s cheesy, but the only thing I can think to call your holiday is “Life Rules!” hahaha… I’m sure you can come up with something better. :)

i have great intentions with plants but am bad at follow through. so i miss watering for about a week and then when they are fully wilted i kill them with kindness (that is, drowning) in an attempt to compensate.

    i admire your plant friendliness.

Ingrid–I used to have the same issue with plants, but I am trying ever so hard to be more responsible about them. I couldn’t even tell you how many plants died under my care. :(
