betsey johnson bow earrings
I just adore these earrings by Betsey Johnson. They are so elegant but with a cute, fun flair to them. I saw them in Macy’s while shopping earlier this week, and was this close to buying them. I decided to hold off, because it was a bit more than I wanted to spend. After about a day, I decided I had to have them. They weren’t on the Betsey Johnson website, so I checked out eBay, and ended up getting them for $10 less than they retailed for. I can’t wait to rock these!

jack lemmon

Jack Lemmon. I don’t know what it is about him, but I have an undying love for Jack Lemmon. There is something about his personality, and the roles he chose to play, that make me feel like a fourteen year old girl with a crush. He is so adorable, and always plays the most awkward but lovable characters. Whether it is in The Apartment, The Odd Couple, The Out of Towners, Some Like it Hot, or any other film, he always manages to win my heart over.

a touch of tabascoA Touch of Tabasco. I talked about this album briefly in my last post (How to Throw a Retro Party: Havana Style), but I can not tell you enough how much I love, love, LOVE this album. There aren’t enough words in the English language to describe my adoration for it! I love Perez Prado. I love Rosemary Clooney. Why oh why did they only ever make one album together? To me this is the bee’s knees. The cream of the crop. So seldom does an album come along that can change my emotions in a blink of an eye. As soon as the first song starts I can go from angry, sad, or grumpy to swingin’ sensual, mambo mamacita, and dance around the kitchen while doing dishes. Download a song, or two, or better yet, the entire album. If you are unsure, preview it on iTunes. It’s fun, it’s old, it’s kitsch-y, it’s danceable, and it is damn fabulous. If I am not convincing enough, find that album that makes you feel the way this one does for me. Everyone needs an album that can light that fire in them!

The New Year! I am so excited about this New Year. I can’t even tell you. 2007 was a fantastic year, a year of self discovery for me, and I rung it in in style (doing conga lines around a karaoke bar in Mexico), but 2008 is the year (and spent more casually, drinking champagne in a friend’s living room). This is the year for self happiness. Not only for myself, but for those around me as well. Friends, readers, and family. I want everyone to start to love themselves for who they are, the positives, the negatives, the good, the bad, and the ugly. We are all human, we all have our flaws, but we owe it to ourselves to feel comfortable in our skin, and exude self confidence.
